Global Recognition at the 2022 Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition
MAADI Group’s modular light vehicle tactical bridge, the LVTB-2418, has earned international recognition, winning 1st place in the Architectural/Structural category at the 2022 Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition, hosted by the ET Foundation. The award highlights MAADI Group’s leadership in aluminum bridge design, with a focus on rapid deployment, modularity, and engineering innovation.
A “Bridge in a Box” for Emergency Deployments
Known as the “bridge in a box,” the LVTB-2418 is designed for fast emergency response and can be installed in under four hours with no need for heavy equipment. Its modular aluminum structure allows for easy transport in a standard container and quick assembly using basic tools — a crucial advantage in civil emergencies or military operations.
Built using off-the-shelf aluminum alloy components, the LVTB-2418 combines light weight, extreme durability, and corrosion resistance, even in cold climates. The bridge is based on MAADI Group’s patented MakeABridge® weld-free system, allowing for on-site repairs without specialized labor — a key benefit in remote or rugged environments.
Elevating the Standard for Aluminum Bridge Design
The Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition celebrates the world’s most innovative uses of extruded aluminum and it features four categories: Architectural/Structural, Transportation, Engineered Products, and Alternative Energy. Entries are judged on creativity, practicality, and performance.
MAADI Group’s LVTB-2418 stood out for its adaptable length, tactical mobility, and engineered strength, addressing a growing need for modular bridge systems in disaster relief, remote infrastructure, and field operations. The project exemplifies the firm’s ability to convert cutting-edge aluminum bridge design into deployable, real-world solutions.

A Repeat Award for a Proven Innovator
The LVTB-2418 now joins two previous MAADI Group innovations that have also received first-place honors from the ET Foundation:
-
GuarDECK™ (2020) – Weld-free bridge decking system for pedestrian and vehicle bridges.
-
MakeABridge® (2008) – Modular aluminum bridge system that has become a cornerstone of the company’s design approach.
“We are very proud to have notched this hat trick with the ET Foundation Design Award,” said Alex de la Chevrotière, MAADI Group’s President. “It confirms the great progress we’ve made in turning our versatile MakeABridge® system into the gold standard for all types of aluminum bridges, from pedestrian bridges to military bridges.”
