Tar River

As part of a statewide bicycle planning program, a town in North Carolina needed a wider bridge to accommodate cyclists. Rather than tearing down the existing bridge, we simply added to it, installing a cantilever walkway with aluminum decking, horizontal rails, and kick plates. The bridge widening project now provides a safe, separated bike path for cyclists, at a fraction of the cost of rebuilding a bridge.
